Alaska Airlines has rolled out its new 787 Dreamliner Suites product on the London–Seattle route. We've flown it and lived to tell the tale.
The deal
This is a product review rather than a discounted fare, but worth knowing about if you're pricing long-haul business class to the US Pacific Northwest. Alaska's new Suites cabin on the 787 includes direct-aisle access, lie-flat beds, and premium dining — the full business-class spread you'd expect at this end of the market.
Why we like it
First: it's genuinely new. Alaska's Suites product didn't exist on this route until recently, so if you've avoided Alaska business class before, this changes the equation. Second, London–Seattle is a solid route for tech workers, ski holidays, and US West Coast business trips — and having a genuine competitor to BA and Virgin on this pairing matters. Third, the 787's cabin pressure and lighting systems do actually make a difference on 10-hour flights; you'll land less wrecked than on older widebodies.
Catches: pricing will be steep. This is full-fat business class, not a bargain. It's also worth checking if Alaska's frequent-flyer programme (Mileage Plan) stacks up for you before committing.
