Why we like it
Lisbon is one of the best winter-sun cities you can reach for under £70. It's usually mild in November and December, and the Baixa and Chiado streets get their Christmas lights. Browse Bertrand in Chiado, the world's oldest working bookshop, ride the 28 tram through Alfama, have pastéis de nata in Belém and finish with a glass of ginjinha cherry liqueur from a hole-in-the-wall bar. Sintra is an easy day trip.
