Paid temporary exhibitions
While general admission is free, V&A Dundee also runs paid temporary exhibitions periodically — for example, a David Bowie exhibition from November 2026. These are the only ticketed part of the museum, and they are booked directly through the official vam.ac.uk website rather than any third party. If a special exhibition is on during your visit and you want to see it, that's the one thing worth booking ahead.
When to go
Because there's no ticket queue for general admission, you can visit whenever suits you. Quieter weekday mornings tend to be the most relaxed time to take in the galleries and the building. Do allow extra time to enjoy the Waterfront setting and the views over the Tay.
