Prague clock or tower: do you need a ticket?
Seeing the Astronomical Clock and visiting the Old Town Hall tower are different choices. Compare the view, the ticket and the optional interior tour.

Our recommendation is to consider the tower if an elevated view is something you actively want from your weekend. If you only want to look at the Astronomical Clock from the square, do not confuse that with admission to the building.

Prague City Tourism currently lists tower admission and guided interior visits separately, with an extra charge for the latter. Its page also lists a lift fee for some admission categories. If a marketplace description sounds broader, confirm precisely what the selected option includes before buying.

Who would we recommend it to?
Consider it if you enjoy city views and want to make Old Town Square more than a short photo stop. It is easy to understand the decision: you are choosing whether the experience upstairs matters enough to you to spend part of your budget on it.
Skip it if you dislike heights, do not want another paid viewpoint, or are happier using the time for a longer walk. Do not book both this and several other towers simply because a list calls them all essential.
Access needs: ask about the whole visit
The city tourism site distinguishes the tower's wheelchair access from the historic interiors, which are not barrier-free. Confirm the route, lift arrangements and any equipment requirements directly before choosing your ticket.
Make it part of your first day
In our Prague weekend itinerary, Old Town is on day one. Keep your lunch flexible and check the time of any guided interior visit before booking a later activity. You do not need a packed sequence of timed tickets to have a good day.
